what are the odds of me making my flight? (NAP/JFK)
A NEW Dilemna!
It seems to be rather expensive for me to fly out of Palermo to NYC as opposed to flying out of Naples to NYC. Plus, the flights out of Palermo are pretty early in the morning. Would it make sense to take the ferry from Palermo to Naples--which gets in Naples at 6:30--and then a 12:30 PM flight from NAP-JFK?
I mean, I know in theory i have plenty of time, what i need to know is--how reliable is the ferry? Does it generally get in on time?
THANKS!

There are no direct or nonstop flights from NAP to JFK. You have to connect somewhere, either in Italy or in western Europe.
For me, it makes sense to fly out of Palermo and connect in either FCO or MXP.
Aside from Alitalia, have you checked Volare, Meridiana and Air One for low fares?

We took the Tirrenia ferry from Palermo to Naples. The ship docked early ..and passengers were off the ship by 7:15. But that was only one trip and doesn?t tell you about reliability over time. And if you want a cabin for the overnight trip they aren't that cheap.
By the time you pay for the ferry you're probably better off taking GAC's advice to just take a flight from Palermo that connects through Rome or Milan.

It's actually possible to leave PMO late, and still get back to JFK on the same day, via Milan and London...
XM5762 12:45p-2:10p PMO-LIN
BD454 4:05p-5:10p LIN-LHR
AA141 8:05p-10:45p LHR-JFK
May cost more than from Naples, but you gain at least half a day in Palermo, and no need to transfer from ferry to airport.
