what are the 'hip' hotels in paris?
 

I was just wondering which Paris hotels are hot right now--I'd appreciate any advice you can give me. Thanks

Well, if price is no concern, I'd vote L'Hotel in the 6th. It's supposed to be one of THE VERY HIPPEST. Check out www.l-hotel.com. <BR>Not only is it the hotel in which Oscar Wilde died (quipping that he was living outside of his means there & whose famous last words complained about the gaudy wallpaper), but it's supposed to be where rock stars (Lenny Kravitz) & movie stars (Drew Barrymore) prefer to stay. It's centrally located in a very literary section of Paris (near Rue Jacob where Natalie Barney used to hold her famous salons). Plus, it's supposed to have one of THE hippest bars. I've read that if you can't stay there, at least hang out in the bar. But I understand it's VERY expensive. Low season low-end prices start at 1550F (approx. $220USD/night) and the Continental breakfast is 110F (or about $16USD). <BR>As I've never stayed there and I've heard both good & bad things about the place, I'd suggest checking out the rants & raves section of Fodor's website.<BR>Enjoy Paris!

The brand new Hotel "Pershing Hall", Rue Pierre-Charron, 8th, designed by famous interior designer Andr&eacute;e Putman.

Andre Puttman also designed the interiors of Hotal La Villa, at Rue Bonaparte, about ten years ago, but I wouldn't say it's hot, and the decor is a bit strange, at least not to my liking.<BR><BR>Hotel Costes is said to be "hip", too.

Costes is supposedly very hip. However, I have a friend whose mother stays there all the time and she is what I would call a "mess." No taste, too much plastic surgery, and she mispronounces her wine selections! Quelle horror!

Square Hotel, across from Maison Radio France in the 16th, is very hip and in all the French mags. It's next to the Zebra Square restaurant which serves mediocre food but is a major hangout for French media types.
