What am I doing wrong?

My friends and I will be arriving from a Viking Cruise in Prague on Saturday afternoon and fly out Monday morning.

I tried to make dinner reservations via Ginger and Fred's website for Saturday, 31.10 for eight of us at 8:00 pm. I stated under comments that we would be happy to split up to 2 tables of four to secure tables by the window.

I received a reply almost immediately stating "unfortunately, for the moment the 30.10 is booked. What about 1.11?"

I replied that actually I had requested Saturday, 31.10, however, if that was booked we'd take the 1.11 but if possible at 7:30. As well I mentioned the two groups of four for a window table.

The reply I received from that email was " I understand but unfortunately on 30.10 the restaurant is booked. On 1.11 I'm glad to confirm your reservation at 19:30. I recommend the round table per 8 people in the middle of the main dining room. Please find photo attached.''

Well really, who wants to sit in the middle of a room when you have numerous four tops on the window? I don't know if she/he doesn't under stand they never got my original requested date right either. Am I missing something here? Is Halloween night big in Prague? And, does this restaurant really book up 60 days out?

Any suggestions what to do next?

Thanks so much for your replies.

I don't know what the photo they sent you shows, but the website photo shows tables for two at the windows.

Why don't you try calling the restaurant? Or consider going for lunch instead...

One reviewer on Tripadvisor.com mentioned being told the window tables were booked weeks in advance. Another reviewer mentioned being one of a party of 40, and a third reviewer mentioned there was a group of 52 Chinese the day he/she was there. I'd say the restaurant is very friendly to tour groups.

Oct 31 is a Sat - so yes, they well might be fully booked - esp if they do a lot of groups. And it does look like the tables at windows are for 2 people only - not 4. And naturally they would be reserved first.

Agree you should just call and ask.

Try the Bellevue instead. Close by your choice. Has better ratings and a great view. Loved my dinner there.
