What a horror.
 

The rain & floods in Eastern Europe are absolutely tragic, Those poor people. How far West has this occurred? Anywhere near Italy or Lyon France? Appreciate any info since the media are doing such a skimpy job on reporting this horrific event.

There was rain & hailstorms in Italy (northern & central portions) that have impacted farmers and their crops.<BR>

Rich, check the websites from "Avoid Prague" posts. Here it is main thing in all news. Total 90 dead, and at least 200.000 evacuated. But it is not in Italy or France. The worst situation is in Prague and several other towns in southern and western parts of the country, and also south eastern Germany. Also Austria has massive floods and they are trying to fortify the riverbanks to avoid Vienna having the same situation as Prague.

RE: US coverage.<BR><BR>A scrolling banner on CNN listed the countries affected, including Germany, but no mention was made in the audio coverage of any other than Russia, or the city of Prague. We do not seem to be getting good coverage here.<BR><BR>Gerry K

well here in austria we have been hit pretty bad. the damage is terrible. vienna was lucky since we have very good flooding control system. germany (mostly former east germany) and czech republic seem to get their share now. for example dresden is severely flooded and so is prague. italy was affected but not very hard. especially the northern region but reaching down to rome where they had some floodings but not particularly threatening. it started hailing in the garda lake region about a week ago which destroyed a significant part of their crop and vineyards. france hasn't been affected and neither has switzerland even though it started snowing there in the mountain regions.as far as i know russia has been hit the hardest..with quite a few people dying in the floods.
