Westminster Hall - Palace of Westminster?

I will be visiting London in mid-February and would love to see Westminster Hall. I can only find information on visiting Parliament - which seems to be off limits to Americans right now. All I want to see is the medieval, original parts of the building (esp. Richard II's ceiling). Anyone know if this is possible? Any information greatly appreciated.
Erica

It looks to me like it's only the Parliament tours that Americans can't do; you can still attend debates. Unfortunately, they aren't in session from mid to late February (see http://www.parliament.uk/directories/hcio/gallery.cfm ).

I believe that the Westminster Hall tours are closed to ALL overseas visitors at the moment, but will be open to ALL during certain periods in the summer.

Yeah, that's the idea I got from their website, that there were no tours for overseas visitors until summer. But since I don't want to see Parliament, I just want to see the inside of the old parts of the building, I was wondering if there was some other way to get in? I can't believe something as beautiful and important as that would be totally off-limits. Seems like they could open it up, or give tours, at night or something, for those of us who don't give a rat's patootie about seeing the politicians.

I would also really like to see Westminster Hall, if even only to take a peek inside. Does anyone have any info. on how this might be possible for a visiting American?

Just not possible unless you "know" someone. Sheila probably doesn't want to become the Fodors connection - could become overwhelming.

I do know a couple of Americans who have contacted MPs because they had some sort of link to their constituency (relatives live there or were stationed there in the US forces) and got in. But that is REALLY just a fluke.

It is just really not an option for most overseas visitors.
