West Coast

What are the least touristy coastal towns in August? Any hotel suggestions? I like comfort (not necessarily luxury) and don't care about price.

Thanks

I believe we have a new winner for the most general question ever asked on Fodors. It might help if you picked a region, country or continent.

Sweden!!! I had highlighted the Country and assumed it would somehow find its way into the post.

Sorry

pep - As you've figured out, the forum doesn't have boards for specific countries. Clicking on Sweden only allos someone to search for information / threads about Sweden.

Some Scandanavian country "specialists" MIGHT see your thread - but you might have better luck if you start a new one with a title something like "need info about west coast of Sweden"

Hi

Ah, Sweden !

By August, the kids are going back to school. By mid August many hotels, restaurants are onto winter schedules, or closing down. The summer weather is also ending ......... August can be wonderful or awful !

You can choose your spot, it won't be busy.

Here's an offbeat idea near Goteborg :

Base yourself here : http://www.ljungskile.nu/

Use this hotel : http://w1.522.telia.com/~u52204727/

Eat here : http://www.lyckornabrygga.com/ and http://www.slussenspensionat.se/eng.html and http://www.nosundsvardshus.se/

Drink here : http://www.turisthotellet.nu/

Tour the surrounding coast & islands.

Read about the area here :
http://www.orust.se/uk/ and http://www.bastkusten.se/

Ask about the jazz festival and regular Thursday night sessions.

Try the surstromming, and don't forget the krafta.

Have a great time

Peter
