Jay,

You and the family may not be checking in at Fodors any longer. I am a long time participant who had been away for a while. I felt compelled to add my own small contribution because I, like many here, considered Wes a friend and inspiration. I remember the last time one of our best contributors (Ed) passed about 1 1/2 years ago, at about the same time I happened to be dining at one of his favorite Rome restaurants and learned the news on my return. Now after several months mostly off the board I am experiencing a kind of sad deja vu. I sincerely hope your family is doing well. The next time I travel abroad I will think of Wes and raise a glass in his honor. He gave so much to all of us.

We are in the planning stages of a Nov trip that will include Germany. While reading and doing research I have think about Wes more than once. He knew Germany so well and always had the best advice regarding routes. If in God's plans, during our visit we too will raise a glass to his memory and cheer to all the happy trails he contributed to.
