Were you one of the 1st 300 to register?

Fodors invited a certain number of people to be beta testers a few weeks ago. For those that agreed to test out the registration function, post on a board and provide notice of any bugs, a choice of gifts were offered: "We would greatly appreciate your assistance, and to thank you we would like to offer you a choice among the Fodors.com gifts of a pin, a T-shirt (large), a magnet set, or a copy of a Fodors FYI guide (How to Tip, How to Pack, FlyEasy)."
As a beta tester, I opted for the pin. When I get it, I'm going to put it up for bid on Ebay. With the money that I get from selling the pin, in my dreams I am going to take a trip around the world, obviously, going first class all of the way.
In all honesty, I don't think that Registration is going to change much here. By registering a name, you have no fear of anyone impersonating you. As Martha Stewart says, that's a good thing. But, what will change is that your email address (real or facetious) will not appear on new messages or the older ones that have existed. If you want to post your email message, you'll have to post it within the text of your message. For people who have complained that they have either received spam or unsolicited email messages from people from this site, because they were required to post an email address, this will be an improvement.
Fodors is not going to invest any more manpower than it already has. I can't see why anyone would be tracked down if they wrote something inappropriate. The worst case scenario is that the moniker and email address that was used for Registration, will be disabled. But all one has to do is register a new name with a different email address. It may be slightly inconvenient, but that's all that it is.

Nope, and it makes me kind of sad. For some silly reason, I would have felt cool to be one of the first (and yes, for the record, I realize that my admission reveals that I am absolutely NOT cool).
I only realized after registering initially, however, that my e-mail address wouldn't appear, and that therefore my screen name wasn't as descriptive as I'd like, so then I had to wait 3 days for my original registration to expire, then did it again. Absolutely no real point to this post, other than that I wanted to test my new name!

I registered twice. First as ncgrrl and confirmed my registration to my 'junk' email account (the one I use for online shopping, contests, etc.) Then I registered as a name that isn't mine at a new hotmail account. That second registration received an offer for the free gift.
It will be kind of strange receiving mail for 'Jane Smith' at ncgrrl's home address. But I will have an idea if Fodor's sells my info to anyone.

I registered pretty early in the process and thought for sure I'd be one of the 300. Never got an email requesting my address, so I guess I wasn't. My disappointment disappeared when I found out what the gift choices were, as I can live quite happily without any of those items.
Hey, I didn't have to fill in my name and password to reply to this post. It just came up on the screen. That's a big improvement!

I was one of the beta testers. The gifts the beta testers were offered were a Fodors pin, a Fodors t-shirt (large), a Fodors magnet set, and a Fodors FYI guide about tipping, packing and flying easy. The beta testers were allowed to choose from the selection of gifts.
Marilyn, if you want my pin, you're more than welcome to it. Otherwise, I shall put the pin up for bid on EBay and hope that the bids are high enough so that I can pay for a round the world flight (in my dreams). The pin is a collectible, right?
