Were to stay near Lecce?
With two weeks in Puglia, we are probably staying:
near Ostuni - 4 nights - Masseria Cervarolo near Lecce - 4 nights Matera - 2 nights - Corte San Pietro Andria - 3 nights - Lama di Luna I would prefer not to stay in Lecce and have to deal with in/out by car for day trips. Yet, I would like to spend time there exploring, have one dinner and experience the Passagiatta, but not drive too far late at night. Does anyone have a suggestion of where to stay nearby, but still get to the coast towns and bottom of heel on day trips? Many thanks! |
If you reconsider Lecce, this place offers a space in a parking garage. http://www.roofbaroccosuite.it/en
It was really not that bad driving in and out--I can't keep track of who I have discussed what with, but we hate driving and we were fine. I just have to share it because it was recommended to me here and we loved it so much we went back the next year (just for the breakfast). I only recall reading about one masseria near Lecce here, and I don't think the trip has occurred yet. good luck! |

Has anyone stayed in or near Maglie? It looks very centrally located for day trips. Has anyone stayed at Corte Dei Granai?

We stayed in Lecce at B&B Five Rooms which was really good. It is not in the historic centre but an easy ten minute walk. It had free parking and was very easy to get to initially from Brindisi airport and also it was easy to leave the city from there to sight-see.
We spent five nights at Masseria Cervarolo and loved it, you are in for a treat there. |
Many years ago we stayed in a lovely B&B just outside Lecce, called Villa Giuliana near Arnesano (see link below). It was run by a mother and son and the rooms were clean, large, comfortable and I remember they steered us to a lovely trattoria nearby which was so good we ate there more than once. Highly recommended. Price was good too.
