Wengen, Switzerland - Which hotel?

We decided we wanted to stay in Wengen, now – which hotel: Park Beausite or Alpenrose? Mandatory requirements: clean and quiet, non-smoking room. Other important things: the view, good breakfast.
We’ll be there in August, is a/c important? Cable TV would be nice…
Thanks

I love the Alpenrose, great views and wonderful breakfast, although they do not have tv's in the room, or at least they didn't 4 years ago. I think that the whole town is quiet so you needn't worry about that...love love love Wengen!

i think the Alpenrose had tvs when we were there two years ago. we loved the Alpenrose, too, but for the views, be sure to get the more expensive south-facing rooms.

Hi xyz99,

Another vote for the Alpenrose with those views coming from over the cliff it's perched on! And I love its homey decor, all pine wood and fabric. Also love its little bar, where you can have a little nip before dinner.

I've stayed there twice and had tv in my room both times.

Stay at the Alpenrose

Alpenrose. If you want to save a little money, check out the wonderful hotel Berghaus.

Thought I'd add my "two pence" to the discussion.
Having stayed at the Alpenrose, I know you will be very happy there. We had TV and a very comfortable room with recently refitted bathroom and balcony. All rooms are quiet, as you are not near any roads. As already mentioned, the huge lounge is so cozy both in the evenings as well as for relaxing during the day-lots of deep sofas and armchairs, separate bar area and lovely, warm decor. Breakfast was always very good,-fresh fruit salad, eggs, cheese, juices and all the other usual fare- although it was the same buffet so gets a bit predictable towards the end of the stay.
Didn't stay at the Beausite, but poked my head in for a look as we had originally planned to stay there. Much pricier than the Alpenrose, but didn't have the same warm, chalet feel. The main floor entrance and restaurant appeared to have been recently refurbished in a modern blue and silver decor, not really in keeping with the alpine charm. Very small lounge area. Beausite has an indoor pool, although non/hotel guests can use this for a fee of about SF16 person. Views are very nice, as they are also from the Alpenrose. Beausite is also in a quiet, peaceful location away from the main village.
We first considered the Beausite because of the pool, but once I knew that we could use it anyway, we saved a bundle and went to the Alpenrose, where I will definitely return the next time we visit wonderful Wengen. As it turned out, we were so busy with other activities that we never did use the pool!
As an aside, the Beausite is owned and run by the sister of Peter VonAllmen, who runs the Alpenrose. There are lots of very postitive reviews on both hotels on the TripAdvisor website, another very reliable source of travel guidance.
