Wengen hotel
Trying to decide on a hotel in Wengen. Budget is up to 400 chf a night. This is a special trip for us, so a nice hotel is a must. Views, balcony, and proximity to the train station important. Any advice will be most welcome!! The Schoenegg is booked for our dates. The Alpenrose? The Belvedere? Others? All I find on the internet are advert driven sites which I hesitate to trust. Thank you.

Hi hannahbrewer7689,
I've stayed at the Alpenrose 3x, I think it's been, and I love it. Ask for a corner room. They always wanted to cart me to the train station in their electric van whenever I went out, and I always had to say no.... It's a great place! Have fun as you plan! s |
Wengen Hotel/restaurants
Based on other posts I think I should choose from Alpenrose, Caprice (Maya Caprice?), or Silberhorn. Thoughts?
Also the half-board system….definitely like breakfast in the hotel. If we choose not to have dinner in our hotel, will we find other restaurants hard to get into? I am wondering if all the hotel restaurants just cater to visitors spending the night and have little availability for non-guests. |
Hello - We stayed at Beausite Park a few years ago and booked it again for four nights this summer. We get a family room (two bedrooms, one bath) with a big balcony. We slept with the balcony doors ajar and enjoyed the sound of bells jangling as the cows were herded through town. Pre-COVID, the breakfast and dinners were fantastic. I hope they still are!

Beausite looks nice, but maybe more family oriented than we need. How far to the train station? It sounds like it is a bit out of town?

Hmmm... I don't really remember many children. We had our 18-year-old niece with us, hence the family room. We spent a rainy afternoon in the pool and it was mostly adults.
We had no problem walking between the train station and hotel. I just Google-maps-walked-it. It takes 8 minutes. I think Beausite ticks a few of your boxes: The dinners were delicious! (Tip: check out the latest photos on Google to see if it is your taste.) The balcony and dinning room had incredible views. The pool was lovely for getting some space during that rainy afternoon. The rooms are Swiss-comfortable and the bathroom was basic -- but the general quality of the rest of the hotel off-set this. Nonetheless, I doubt you can go wrong! The area is so beautiful and we can't wait to return. |
