Wengen Cog

Could someone explain to me what I need to do to get to Wengen? I will be arriving by car and realize that I need to catch a cog up to Wengen. Is it pretty straight forward or is there anything I need to know ahead of time? Thanks

Nothing special to do. Drive to Lauterbrunnen and go to the train station. Trains depart twice an hour, take about 15 minutes, and cost 7 francs or so.

Oh yes, and llamas are not allowed on the train. I had to learn that one the hard way.

Are you going to Lauterbrunnen (where you catch the train to Wengen) by car because that's your mode of transportation for other travel in Switzerland that cannot be done by train? I'm asking, because if you can get to L. from, say, Zuerich, you are better off taking the train.

For example, last month I stayed in L.. Went there by train directly from the Zuerich airport, with a change of trains in Bern and Interlaken (no problem!) This way, I did not have to pay for the car and parking while it sat in L.On the last day, got my rental car in Interlaken for the continuatioin of my travel to southern Germany.

For the trip to Wengen, you just buy the ticket at the RR station and hop on the train.

And of course the good thing about taking the trains in Switzerland is that you can check your luggage and it will be delivered to your hotel!

tvlgrl,

Well -- two days later. Swiss rail now guarantees delivery in 48 hours. I think you can pay double and get it there overnight.
