Welsh male choirs?
 

I will be in the Cardiff area in early May and I would like to see a choir's performance. Do they sing in churches or give concerts, etc? Any help would be appreciated.

We were in Wales last May. The B&B we stayed in arranged for us to attend a rehearsal of the local choir. Very informal. the men were there just after dinner in informal clothes, relaxed and happy to be practicing. They were friendly and sang in Welsh and English. One gentleman had a relative from the same town in Tennessee as a member of our group. Small friendly world.

We had much the same experience three years ago. I picked up the local paper and saw a notice of a choral concert at a nearby church. We drove over from our b&b to hear a marvelous farewell to a local soprano who was leaving for Australia to sing with the Sydney
Opera.

the Chepstow Male choir is very, very good. We attended a rehersal last year during our tour of Wales.
Our driver tooks us there, so i don't know for sure where it was. But surely the tourist bureau could tell you where they men practice and which night.

The rehersal was open to the public.

The wales millennium centre was completed last year and hosts choirs, musicals and plays daily. It is a phenomenal buiding and the best opera theatre in the world in my opinion. it is built purelly of welsh materials; welsh tin, slate, steel, iron of which wales were the the word's number 1 exporters earier in the 20th century from cardiff bay and milford haven in west wales. If you dont agree with me it is the best opera theatre in the world after going there then I will personally refundd your money. cardiff is the fastest growing city in europe. IT is phenomenal and better still there wil be 24 hour licensing laws passed for limited establishments this summer so you can eat and drink and sing all night in the land of song.

I cannot recommend cardiff highly enough. Home to the rugby european champions at the best stadium in europe, the millennium stadium, castes, museums, the ryder cup course 10 miles away, the open golf course at st pierre, international cricket, football, ice hockey, all the worlds best rockers visit daily, immense victorian shopping centres, huge cardiff bay areas , 24 hour casinos, impteen 5 star hotels, 400 acre welsh museum of life, awesome restaurants, pubs, world pool tournament, luxury 2 hour yacht trips for $5 or £3, the welsh government is based here too. It is a wonderfully metropolitan city yet remains eternally welsh, I am an american but I fell in ove with cardiff the day I saw it.
