Wellies in Venice?

I've read that during the acqua altas, people sell rain boots on the streets. Do they come in big American sizes- like a size 12 mens?
The weather forecast for the next 14 days sounds chilly- should we bring wool ski socks to wear under the boots or are they more like galoshes/overboots- wear over shoes?

Is there a website with daily acqua alta updates I can access before we go?

Does anyone know if Hotel Bauer's lobby floods?

I'm worried about small Italian feet and large sizes not being available. Any info greatly appreciated!

You may need snow boots by the sound of it. Venice got quite a dumping of snow (for them) on Sunday! Snowmen abound in San Marco Square.

ood evening, calville
check with your hotel, I recall have
hotels do have rubber boatd for their
guests. We did however buy them in
November, 2000 and they were relativly cheap. Richard of LaGrange Park, IL.
We left ours there at the hotel at our departure, however our daughter brought
hers back home and carried them back when we returned last November..

LOL- I hope we're not going to be building any snowmen! I saw Florence also got snow- sounds like we'd have to head to Sicily for truly warm weather.

Thanks Hike for the website- there must be something wrong with my computer- the graph only appeared on the print-out, not my computer screen. Glad to see water levels for now are under 80cm. I also enjoyed taking a virtual tour of the Marco Polo airport and noted they have bank tellers.

I'd hate to lug rubber boots to Italy but do plan to bring my short thinsulate winter boots since we plan a day trip to Cortina. Snow sounds better than rain. Thanks everyone!
