Well, after planning my dream trip to Paris for so long, now I after you cancel it, my husband is in the hospital.
 

I had to take my husband to the hospital on Thursday because he had really hard stomache pains and it seems as he will be there for a while. The doctor does not exactly what it is yet, they are still running tests. <BR>I just hope is nothing serious, and that whatever it is, the doctor will find out where is coming from, since this is not the first time he's had this problem.<BR>My husband still thinks that we should be able to go to our trip next week to Paris, but I insist we shouldn't as if something was to happen in France I will be devasted. It will terrible to go to France right now as much as I would love to (and trust me, I am a little disappointed, by my husband's health is more important), the water is different there, the food and the spices are different, if something was to happen, I don't speak French and I don't know how the hospitals work over there. So we just have to hope and pray everything will be okay.<BR>Gosh, this is the SECOND time I plan a trip to Europe and always something happens. If I plan a trip to the caribbean it is okay, but it seems as I am destined to go to Europe, my dream vacation since I was 18yrs old. Oh well...<BR>I already talked to the airline and they are willing to give me a voucher for the amount we spent and we can use it for a year.

Oh Maryann, doesn't life throw some curves? Hang on and continue to plan. And as soon as your hubby is back on his feet again, go, go, go. Sneak up and surprise the fates by hopping on a plane so spontaneously that nothing can stop you. I'll say some prayers for a quick recovery. Keep in touch. J.

Sorry to hear of your unfortunate luck, but it's good that you were able to make a recovery of your airfare, since that is something that is becoming a little more tricky. I agree with jw: you've done enough planning so when you have the green light, GO!

Hi. I just arrived home from a Grand Circle Trip to Italy, Switzerland and Austria and a woman is still there with her husband in the hospital, with an indefinite time of coming back home and so far has been there two extra weeks. I would imagine it lucky that your husband took sick BEFORE leaving home. However it can happen anywhere. Luckily she had taken out the additional insurance as being seniors, medicare does not cover out of the country. So before going, just be sure your hospitalization insurance would cover you and good luck. So many people said to not take this recent trip because of world conditions, however am certainly glad I did as life does not stand still. The best of luck to you both. MJ

Maryann, I certainly understand your disappointment and the need to share on this developement as you had so enthusiastically shared on the anticipation and planning of your trip. If your husband's doctor(s) give him a release, I would make the trip. Have a good talk with your doctors and health insurance and take all necessary documentation with you, but I do agree, such is life, nobody ever gets thru life without their share, you just have to go on. Wish you guys the best and a speedy recovery.

I was on my honeymoon in Paris and on the second day my husband was admitted to the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine. Apparantly he had come down with Rheumatic Fever...go figure...<BR>He was too sick to fly home. Most of the time he was asleep and running a high fever. Most of my honeymoon was at his side or when I need a break sightseeing and shopping. <BR>We finally went home. It has been 5 years since our honeymoon. We are still trying to find time to plan for a second honeymoon......Believe me I feel your pain....
