weekend trips from Luxembourg
 

Hello, we will be visiting our daughter in Luxembourg in October, and are trying to come up with a weekend destination from Luxembourg city to a nearby town in Germany or France that might be having a wine festival or that would just be a fun place to visit for a weekend. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!

The Alsace region of France - Strassbourg, Colmar and the Wine Road would be a great place to go. Our last visit was in 2004 and we stayed in Colmar.

The nearby Mosel Valley in Germany, from Trier downriver is awash in wine festivals everytime i've been thru there - one of the premier German wine-growing areas, Mosel white wines are very popular - it's just a few hour drive at most, probably less from Luxembourg City to a place like Bernkastel-Kues, on the Mosel and one of the premier wine towns. Harvest time is during October i believe - in any case there are numerous wineries that offer samples and tours of the premises along the river. alsace as noted also excellent vino venue.
