Weekend navigo options
 

I'm in the early stages of planning for our trip to Paris for all of October. When we left Paris in December last year I had a broken left elbow, right hand problem, and half my face was bruised, but I was still happy.
Can anyone tell me if you can go to any of the zones on weekends with a zone 1-2 monthly navigo? I thought I had seen it posted but can't find it and I'm not finding it in the Navigo site. Thanks in advance for the info.

As of Septmeber 1st the zone 1-2 pass will no longer exist and will be replaced by the zone 1-5 pass, at 21.25€ for the weekly pass and 70€ for the monthly pass.

Yes, monthly Navigos are "dezoned" on weekends, holidays and school holiday periods... at the moment.

However, even though the official texts have not yet been published, as of September 2015, <b>all of the zones will be cancelled permanently</b>, and the monthly Navigo will cost 70 euros for everybody. This means an increase in price for Parisians but a major decrease for most of the people in the suburbs who come to Paris every day.

Zones will not disappear completely. Suburbanites will have the choice to keep their cheaper 2-zone passes or go for the zones 1-5 pass. The zones will probably eventually disappear but not for another few years. When the prices were voted, zones 4-5 passes were 56€ a month so a 70€ pass was considered too steep of an increase for those suburbanites who never take the train to Paris.

Yes, it's true that the zones will still exist for people with a weekly Navigo or a paper ticket.

In fact, the zones will continue to exist for yearly, monthly and weekly suburban 2-zone pass holders (passes for zones 2-3, 3-4 and 4-5) if they wish to keep it this way. This does not affect tourists visiting Paris, of course.

It will also remain in effect for the Mobilis day pass (and probably the Paris Visite ?) and on the Noctilien (where the number of tickets t+ needed depends on the number of zones crossed). The ticket t+ will still not be valid on the RER outside zone 1.

Yearly pass holders will save less under the new plan, since the yearly navigo will cost 11 x the monthly pass as opposed to 10,35 on average.

The big winners are those who used to have passes including at least 3 zones. And tourists who will now have access to sites like Versailles, CDG airport, Disneyland, etc, at no extra cost and without the need to do the math about how many zones they need to buy.

Damn, I have always benefited from having my yearly pass.

Looking forward to the price going down! Normally am a monthly zones 1-4 holder at more than €100 a pop (NB still a great deal cheaper than London!).
