Weekend market in Orvieto

I believe that there is a market in Orvieto on the 3rd Saturday and Sunday of the month.

I'm thinking of making a day trip from Rome.

Has anyone visited Orvieto on a market day and was it worth it as opposed to visiting on a day when the market is not operating?

lavender,
I have been in Orvieto on market day which is Thursday. It is a typical Italian town market. Most items are for the locals.

Orvieto is beautiful with a small square in front of the cathedral. The mosiacs on the facade of the cathedral are spectacular but the inside is very austere. Overall, it was a pleasant detour on our way from Florence to Rome....we spent about three hours there.

And since we love markets, usually pick up produce, cheese and bread for a picnic, we'd definitely encourage you to go on a market day.
