Weekend in Istanbul
I have a weekend layover in Istanbul in early September. Any suggestions for a hotel or the best location for a single female who's never been? Willing to pay 300 to 400 euro per night.

If you wish to spend your time visiting the historic sites,
Four Seasons at sultanahmet is the best hotel in the area and very close to the blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace as well as a small bazaar, a mosaic museum, an islamic arts museum and the famous basilica cistern. This is a very touristic area If you wish to get a feel of the city, the Bosphorus and the super night life, try Bebek Hotel, and you can take an IDO water taxi down to the historic part for your sightseeing. If Bebek hotel is full, there is Radisson Bosphorus and Ciragan Palace Kempinsky. |
Thank you! That's very helpful.

Darn, you removed a post that gave me a link with great rates. I didn't bookmark it.

I just re-read a great article on Istanbul from an old issue of National Geographic Traveler. The link below is to the magazine's city guide for Istanbul which includes a walking tour, hotel reccos and the article "Istanbul: City of the Future." (Be patient. Everything loads slowly on this website.)

Thank you Jean!
With all respect, sometimes posts that may seem like advertisements are actually helpful. |
