Week in London, please comment on my itineray
Hi there
Here is my initial plan for a week in London in early April 2011. This is my fourth visit to London, serious foodie and love the theater. Please comment. Friday: Arrive early morning, do a London walk the morning. Afternoon tea at the Lanesborough or Claridges Hotel Saturday: Borough market in the morning. Victoria and Albert museum in the afternoon. Sunday: Camden town and Convent Garden Monday: Hampton Court Palace and Richmond upon Thames (stayed there a couple of years ago, love the area) Tuesday: Natural History museum and Kensington (tea at the Orangerie) Wednesday: Visiting friends in Cambridge Thursday: Shopping in Oxford Street/Chelsea. Leadenhall market and British museum (stay open untill 20:30 on Thursdays) Friday: Depart with Eurostar to Paris We will visit the theatre, go to pubs and do the "Jack the Ripper walk" in the evenings. Would love any recommendations Thank you in advance Linda |
Are you planning on booking theatre tickets in advance? Leicester Square is a good place for last minute tickets if you're open to seeing whatever they have on offer. If you're remotely into musical theatre, book for The Lion King, its absolutely stunning.
Allow time to watch the street performers in Covent Garden. |
will book some in advance and other at Leicester Square.
really want to see the Phantom of the Opera's sequel and this time also finally "the mousetrap" :) |
It's up to you, but the Ripper tour has had some very bad reports on the forum.
Personally, I'd rather do a pub walk. |
I’d give the Ripper tour a miss – it’s rubbish. Do one of the pub walks instead (the along the Thames one is good).
Otherwise it's fine. |
I gather you are not interested in art.
I gather you are not interested in history or visiting historical houses. If this is not true, let me know, and I will suggest some changes. Or maybe you did all that before. |

Will see enough art in Paris, but definitely interested in history etc. What changes would you make? |
On Sunday when you're doing Camden Town you should definitely take the boat bus over to Little Venice. It's not a popular tourist area, but it can be really adorable with all the canal boats.

I forgot to mention: we moved from NYC to London a few months ago, and we've been keeping a little blog about our adventures. You might enjoy someof the posts, particularly this one about the Regent's Canal:
