wedding day transportation
Can anyone advise on train? transportation from the cruise ship port in Cannes to final destination Villa Ephrussi De Rothchild ? Please respond as soon as possible as we
leave April 19, 2009. Also, the cost and are taxis necessary? Kind regards, Bride to Be Tracey |
You would get a lot more replies if you would repost with some hint in the title about where you want information about.
Also, why did you tag it as a trip report? |
The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is located on St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, which is a bit to the east of Nice. You could take the train from Cannes to St-Jean and then a taxi from there to the Villa. What a beautiful place for a wedding! Will it be out in the main garden, the one with the gazebo?

Thank you for the response underhill. I have read some strike info. with the trains and don't know if it is still happening. Do you recommend the train/taxi over a rental car? Do you know how long or how much the train costs from Cannes? Do you have a suggestion on the location in the garden? We would like to overlook the Water. It is just the 2 of us in a symbolic ceremony with videographer, so we will find a spot that feels right, but open to suggestions.
Thank you in advance for any more info. |
nukesafe....first time signing up. I will try to see if I can use your suggestions....in the meantime, do have a response to my question, or merely to advise my posting?
Any assistance appreciated. |
TravelTrace,
I saw you were new to the Forum, and was just trying to help, not be snotty. Most folks only spend a brief time on Fodor's each day (some like myself spend waaaay too much) and only have time to open posts with titles that seem relevant to them. Underhill obviously opened your post and happened to know Cannes, so he was able to give you good advice. If Cannes appeared in the title, a lot of others who know the area would have jumped to give you more details. Most of us want to help, so give us a chance by being descriptive in your post titles. :-) |
If you go to the web site:
www.villa-ephrussi.com/en/ephrussi/ I think you will find all the info you need, including travel, opening hours, rates, and reservations you would need to make in order to hold any sort of ceremony there. There might be special costs/permissions for a professional videographer to shoot there. |
TravelTrace: You might want to e-mail Katie (a Fodors editor) at [email protected] and ask her to remover the Trip Report tag from your thread. Otherwise it will carry the tag forever and folks looking for trip reports about France will get your thread in error . . . .

A rental car for just one day would be very expensive, but if you need the car more than that it would be a good idea--and certainly make handling luggage easier.
For the ceremony, I think the garden behind the house would be a beautiful spot...but other visitors may think it's good as well and you could have a crowd. To avoid that, you could choose one of the 7 smaller gardens; the Spanish one has been used in movies and would be a good choice. |
