Websites/information about Rotterdam

My dearly beloved has a conference in Rotterdam. My knowledge of the place can be summed up as "Big port, Feyenoord".

Can any Fodorites help me with information/websites so we can plan possible activities/places of interest for her while she is there?

The trip will be in mid September, She will be tied to public transport, and obviously be busy for "normal working hours" but might have the odd afternoon off.

I will be meeting up with her in Amsterdam at the end of the week - but that is a topic for another day (and alot easier to research using guidebooks).

The website of the Rotterdam tourist office:
http://www.vvv.rotterdam.nl/uk/
gives lots of information.
Rotterdam is a modern highrise city, a big contrast from Amsterdam.
Harbourtours bu boat, go to the top of Euromast (with or wqithout diner), have lunch/diner in Hotel New York (once headoffice Holland America Line), visit maritime Mueseum. Also th Zoo Blijdorp is very nice.
Public transport by metro underground, tram or bus.
Outside the city: windmills of Kinderdijk, maybe Gouda.
Delft is close easy to do by train, a nice old city, famous for Delft Blue - visit Poceleyne Fles (http://www.royaldelft.com/english.html

Have fun

I spent a lovely day in Rotterdam last January - had a Museum Pass and did all the museums and there are some good and unique ones - like the Ship Museum which also has a lot of old crafts and locomotives out back bordering the old harbor

Research the museums, which are rather in a compact area.

If interested in football then you can tour the Rotterdam football facility and museum.
