website for buying tickets in advance

wondering if anyone could help me. I'm looking into starting to book tickets for different things me and my husband want to see while in Italy so we don't have to queue for tickets and waste half the day. could anyone recommend any good sites that they have gotten tickets from before? For things like the colouseem, the piazza del campo in siena etc etc.

would anyone also know of any websites that have good info on activities to do in the evenings perhaps a show or theatre.

I have been on viator and got one or two idea but feel there is prob more out there but just no idea where to start looking.

thanks very much.

You use the web site of the venue you want to visit. Here's one for Rome museums that may help with various places.

The campo in Siena does not require a ticket - it's a square or piazza - it's open. It's like saying that you need a ticket for Times Square in NYC or St. Peter's Square in Rome. It's an open area.

Viator is a consolidator and does not do the tours. I booked a Viator walking tour in Barcelona and it was given by the Barcelona tourist office.

No, it doesn't but if you'd like to have a place from which you can see the Palio then you definitely do need a ticket.

Yes, that is true, Dukey1, but the OP never mentioned the Palio.

adrienne - That isn't the official museums link, it's a reseller that marks up tickets.

The official site for the Colosseum is Coop Culture. Entry tickets are currently 12€ (+2€ fee to book online).

http://www.coopculture.it/

For the Vatican Museums you book entry only or add a tour (both let you bypass the lines).

For other museums in Rome click the drop down at the top for all civic museums to get a list.

For the Duomo in Siena you might want to consider the pass (includes several places).

For the museums in Florence (not just the Uffizi):

Most sites only book a couple of months in advance.
