Web site for bus and/or train schedules?

Do you have the web address for these schedules, and if so, do you have any idea how accurate they are? Thanks.

What country? To get started try www.thalys.com. I've found the times fairly accurate. M.

For train info, here's one web page which will lead you to the website of ANY country in Europe: http://mercurio.iet.unipi.it/misc/timetabl.html (note: no "www"). And yes, they are generally very accurate. I don't know if any such bus website exists for all of Europe. Travelers from America seem to use the bus a lot less than the trains, even though for SOME routes, they are clearly the way to go (or compare favorably with car rental, beating the trains). A recent question about traveling from Assisi to Siena illustrated this rather pointedly.

Best wishes,

Rex

Railway timetables can be found at this site:

http://mercurio.iet.unipi.it/misc/timetabl.html

The German site, www.bahn.de, is good for most European countries, as is the Swiss site, www.sbb.ch. I don't know of anything similar for bus schedules; it's usually necessary to track down the website of the individual bus network.

These sites are usually perfectly accurate as to the times when the train or bus is supposed to arrive and depart; but delays are certainly not unheard of.
For the UK, for trains, try www.railtrack.co.uk
This is the main timetable website for national and local train services and is kept updated with amendments and alterations for engineering works and suchlike, as soon as they know of them. It is very accurate, but trains in Britain are very variable, and often run at least a little late. Some routes are notorious for regularly running very late. If you have to change trains, allow plenty of time to make the connection.

For all transport in London, try www.transportforlondon.gov.uk
Thanks for the replies. The country I wanted the information on was Turkey. I thought that since I posted under the Turkey sub-category that would be understood. Guess I need to be more specific next time.

Annie
there is no Turkey subcategory when the postings come out--it all comes out under Europe. The subcategories only come into play when others want to search for past postings by country.
