weather/accomodation in interlaken
We are 2 Adults and 2 kids (4&5 yr old) travelling first time to Interlaken (even Europe) around 25 MArch. I would like to get recommendation on some apartments with kitchen to stay in (under $100 would be great). Since we are travelling by car and do not have rail pass, I assume staying close to Interlaken OST would be a good idea.
What would be the weather like around 25 March? In California, winter has a totally different meaning. Also I would like some recommendation on kind of clothes/shoes to carry along. Thanks.

Hi Trevi34,
Here are some websites to get you started.
For an apartment, try www.interhome.com, then search for "Interlaken." They don't have a lot, though, only about six apartments, and only one that sleeps four.
You can look at the Interlaken tourism website (www.interlakentourism.ch), then on the left hand side of the page, click on "accommodations" and then on "holiday apartments." I just did a quick search, and it looks like they have about 50 in/around Interlaken.
The weather will be cold and wet -- folks will probably still be skiing in the mountains. Check at www.weatherbase.com and www.weatherunderground.com.
Bring clothes to layer: cuddleduds or long underwear, then a sweater, than a cardigan, then a coat (with liner). Bring waterproof, comfortable shoes that cover the whole foot.
Have fun!

The apartments seems to spread all over Interlaken. Could you please help me figure out which one would be closest to Interlaken OST station? Or does it not matter where you stay? I would like to take the train tour to Jungfrou and Schilthorn so closer to the station looked like a good idea. Thanks.

Trevi34,
Your location within Interlaken won't matter. You can walk from West to Ost in about 10 minutes (I think you'll have a car anyway?); I've walked from Ost to West to the outskirts in about an hour. There are busses to link you to the various smaller towns too.

ps,
Besides, the apartment list tells you where each apartment is located; its location is described as "zentrum/center" or "near Bahnhof Ost" or "near Bahnhof West." That should tell you where it is!
