weather mid Sept. in Tuscany?

Don't laugh, heres my dilemma..is it warm enough to wear sandals or should I wear closed toed shoes? Would it be a fashion faux pas to wear sandals if it is warm enough that late in the year? I guess I just don't know if I should dress as though it is late summer, or go the "fall route."
Thanks so much for your ideas!!

Hi wads,

We were there mid-Sept last year. Warm, mostly sunny weather. More like late Spring than Summer.

1) Sandals don't take up that much room in the luggage
2) I'm a much more pleasant person when my feet aren't hot
3) Forget what others think and be comfortable

Have fun!

In southern California we wear sandals all year round. It's okay. 8^>

last summer (2003) was one of the hottest summers I have EVER experienced (I lived near Rome), it didn't rain for months and also in September it was pretty hot, even if (luckily) we had some rain right in sept, which abated the heat...
What can I say? I would opt for a solution: some light stuff and some sweatshirt (which can be combined in layers in case it gets colder). AS for the shoes: I would personally get a pair of sandals AND closed shoes, you never know...
