Weather in Western Europe in May/June
What is the weather like in Southern UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain from mid-May to mid-July?
What kind of apparel does it necessitate? Mostly long pants or capris or tees or what?
(Perhaps next year will might be expecting cooler [a little] temperatures thanks to the volcano.... maybe?)

The volcano will not affect the weather unless it really blows it's top, in which case a lot more than the weather could be affected.
UK, Belgium the Netherlands will be warm (20-25C) with always a good chance of rain.
Switzerland anf France will probably be similar, but could be warmer.
Italy and Spain will probably be warmer still.
If you want warm then start south and move north.
May has been cool everywhere this year, but is warming up at last now. Who knows for next year.
Always bear in mind the chance of rain in the more northern areas though.

It varies greatly, from place to place and year to year. Scotland rarely warms up much; southern Italy and Spain can be quite warm. It also depends on what you're used to. Look at www.weatherbase.com for average temperatures for each month.
