Weather in Spring April/May

Hi - I am planning a trip to Spain next year - Barcelona, Northern Wine Country, and Madrid. We are thinking mid April or early May - how is the weather? Is there a difference in weather between these places. In Barcelona we are staying at the W (beachfront) - pool weather or no? Rainy in North Spain for wine tours?

Thanks!
Lara

Have been in Madrid the very end of April and early May and it was very hot - well into the 90s - but obviously Madrid doesn;t have beaches and I would be surprised at hotels with pools. Have been in Barcelona only in late June - when it was beach weather. Don;t know about earlier there.

Time of year with very shifting weather, but a great time to go.

15 past years statistics for three weeks from the middle of April in

Madrid: average highs from 61 to 75F, seven hours sun pr day and some two days with rainfall pr. week.

Barcelona: highs from 64 to 70F, seven hours sun pr. day, and an average of about one day with rainfall pr. week. http://www.wetteronline.de/Spanien/Barcelona.htm

We were in Barcelona around 20th of April this year ...it was nice and breezy ..about 18C. Not pool weather
Last year, around the end of April, Madrid was rather warm -25-27C. Barcelona (1-3th of May) was fine...people on the beach but not in the water, Then it rained
and the temp dropped to 13C .
Hard to know. This year was rainy during la Semana Santa in most of the Southern Spain, but not in the North.
Barcelona is usually cooler( and rainier) than Madrid and the North even more so.

*Rainy in North Spain for wine tours?*

Why would rain affect a wine tour? you will be inside Bodegas.
I would suggest that weather is variable and what ever a website has said has happened in the past is no guarantee of what will happen in the future.

The weather is warm. But not too warm. I think this is an ideal time to rest.
