Also looking for good small hotels reasonably priced.

I was in Dubrovnik in September 2010. Very warm and sunny. Not hot, but nice to me. I am from Texas, so I'm used to summer temps of 98+.

How did you enjoy Dubrovnik? Did you travel anywhere else in Croatia??

We traveled by bus from Dubrovnik to Sarajevo, Bosnia. I totally LOVED Dubrovnik. It is beautiful. My son and my husband would love doing the motorcycle thing. My son actually wants to rent a bike in Germany and tour Bavaria. My husband will not fly, so he'll never see any place other than the good ole USA.

I recommend you google historical weather sites for weather trends. Here's one for Istanbul:

Athens:http://www.myforecast.com/bin/climat...0&metric=false

And good old wikipedia:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

wenday We did take a bus tour to Kotor and Budva. We really enjoyed it. We liked Kotor best. But it was only a day trip-not overnight.

What was the bus experience like to Sarajevo? Would you recommend staying there and if so how many days would you allocate to it?? I have read so many reports of Dubrovinik being beautiful....so as your favorites which cities in Croatia and how many days would you stay in each. Can you recommend any smaller hotels??
Thanks Wenday

Thanks Walkabout for the websites!!

The bus to Sarajevo was nice. There was beautiful scenery in spots and not so pretty in others. Some of the roads were exciting! Kinda on the edge of mountains. Not dangerous, but different. It was a long ride with a couple of restroom breaks. We stayed 4 nights in Dubrovnik, but I would have loved to stay longer. Dubrovnik was my favorite place. We stayed in an apartment-not like USA apartments. It was just a small kitchenette area and then a door to the bedroom. we had a couple of problems with it. Right off the owner told us that wifi would no longer work there. Big problem. My son is a real estate agent and was in the middle of a sale on a Dallas house. And was answering emails on a newly-listed condo to several interested parties. But we found a restaurant close by and used their wifi. No lost commissions. The other problem was the smell of sewer in our bathroom. Strong! I used a lot of Lysol spray!

On the good side was the perfect location. Just walk out the door and we were in the middle of old town. And the owner was super nice. He picked us up at the airport after our flight finally arrived in Dubrovnik after being delayed about 6 hours. It was after midnight when we finally got there. We were given clean towels every day and the room was cleaned. Apartment Placa. I think it was about 80€ per night for a twin. I would stay there again just because of the location.
