Weather In Rome in Mid-Late October
 

Hello Everybody,
I will be in Rome from October 20th - 25th and would like to know what to expect weather wise so I can plan on what to pack. Will I need a coat? Or will a light windbreaker be enough?

My crystal ball says... Honestly, who can predict? I can tell you, however, that we've been blessed with perfect weather in late October. Daytime temps in the upper 60s to low 70s and evening temps no lower than the upper 50s.

Hi Tom,
Will is taking a sweater and a light windbreaker. He said he can layer if he needs to!
Hopefully we will have some nice pleasant weather.

I have another one from 8/02 and also 9/03 & 9/04 but they were mostly about cruising and just a little about the ports. And I can't find them.

Jean - I guess all you can do is hope for the best. The joke here in Seattle is, if you dont like the weather...just wait 10 minutes. The temp ranges you listed are IMO perfect. What about rain?

Carol - Yes, lets hope we have some pleasant weather. I am not a big sweater person, but guess I can just wear it on the plane so as not take up space in the luggage. Looking forward to the big GTG on the 23rd.

We've had rain in Northern Italy in late October but no rain in Rome and points south.

We were in Rome in mid-late October 2003...it rained buckets a couple of the 4 days we were there. It was warm though, especially in comparison the cold snap in Venice and other points North, where I wore all available layers and was still cold. The bad news is, a lot of budget hotels don't turn the heat on until November 1.

You'll probably want to pack layers -- maybe one or two of the warm stuff (fleece jacket and sweater, perhaps) with a Gore-Tex or other rain jacket that'll keep you dry.

I'm from Seattle, where rain can't stop the locals or they'd never leave their houses. So just remember, even if it's raining in Rome, at least you're in Rome.

Plus, it clears out the crowds.
