Weather in Provence

What are the high temperatures (Fahrenheit) in Provence and Nice in July? We are looking to tour and visit lots of small towns with lots of sight seeing. Is it too hot to do that? 90's are hot!

It was a scorcher last year.

We have been in Provence several times in July and/or August, and we had periods of temps in the 90’s. High 90’s. Make sure you have water with you when sightseeing. Hats and sunscreen.

We don't have Fahrenheit temperatures in Provence, just Celsius.

It was Fahrenheit's when I was there.

If I recall right there were heat waves to the 40's to much of Europe the last summer or two.

Inland areas of Provence are going to be the warmest, in the inland areas, where regular highs last summer were over 90 and some even over 100. The hottest temperatures ever recorded in France have been in the area between Nimes and Montpellier (Gard/Herault), up to 115F. The last few years have been much warmer than normal.

Nice and immediate areas along the surrounding coast don't get as hot due to the combination of the sea and geography. However, the humidity can be higher. You may get a few days above 90 but most days will be in the low to mid 80s (you may be more likely to get days where it does not break 80 -- but the last several years have been warmer). It's never been over 100 but last August was definitely hotter (2H July to 1H August is the peak; peak is earlier in Western Provence).
