Weather in Paris in late October?

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what the weather is like in late October in Paris? We were there in 2005 during the second week in October and it was so warm that we wore tanktops and t-shirts with our jeans because it was unseasonably warm, we never wore a jacket once, a light sweater was fine at night.

Was that just a fluke? A heatwave? Or is that indicative of October's weather? The guidebooks say the average is in the low 60's which can't be right, unless '05 was a heatwave. I know that in San Francisco October is one of the warmest months (Indian Summer), is it the same in Paris?

This year we're going October 26-November 5. Any thoughts on what to pack?

gloves, and perhaps a hat. It was COLD in the AM and late afternoon/evening, pleasant in between. We were there Ot 20-23 last year.

Yes, last October was cold..I was there!!

I am leaving Wed and will be there for a month. I am taking a coat!! Layering is the name of the game! Take rain gear, too.

It could also be unseasonable warm!

Enjoy.................

Wow, I just looked through the almanac and it was 77 degrees in 2005 when we were there and only 60 degrees on the same date in 2007! So I guess it was an unseasonable heatwave. I will take your advice and bring lots of laying pieces. Hoping to find a way to be comfortable and still fashionable at the same time if that's humanly possible!

I was there at the end of Oct. last year, and it felt colder than the low 60ies.

You were there in an unseasonable heat wave. Paris does NOT have weather like SF. It has wether more like DC in the fall and winter.

I wold have some sort of light/midweight jacket - NOT winter coat - and an assortment of long and short sleeve tops plus a sweater or two. And a nice sturdy folding umbrella.

NYtraveler, thanks for that very specific info, I was debating on what kind of coat to take. I wonder if I'd be ok with a thick zip up sweater??? My only other option is a lightweight wool coat, but I imagine even that will be too warm as I tend to run very warm myself, even in the winter. Perhaps a lightweight trench coat???

I would take a light-weight trench coat, which would repel rain much better than a sweater which might become really soggy if it got wet. You could layer (or not) underneath it.
