weather in October
 

Will be visiting Ireland in October (13 to 19) I am from California. How cold can I expect it to be and what reccomendations for clothing would one suggest

flowerpatch - Having never been to Ireland ( will happen in the future ) I can't help you on the weather in October. BUT you may get more responses if you were to re-title your question as "weather in Ireland in October"

Very good rain gear will be needed, change footwear, medium jacket and good warm shirts(wool). The temps should be cool, but not cold. However, Californians from the coastlines may get chilly. Very rainy days could be common, but nobody worries about that in Ireland.

It all depends on where you go. The South will be warmer than the North. It could be temps in the 50s, but 40s are not uncommon. Windy days could make things seem very cold..

Layers, layers, layers. It may be 60 at noon and 45 2 hours earlier. Rain one moment, sunny the next. Bring several layers each day to remain comfortable.

It doesn;t get really cold in Ireland - even in the middle of winter. But by October it can be chilly and damp and rainy.

So - be sure you have at least 2 pair of solid walking shoes - preferably waterproof - and a good unbrella. You will need a raincoat or jacket - with hood is best - since many days it doesn't rain - just mists - and an umbie is too much of a pain.

Have layers of long sleeve shirts, thin turtlenecks and a couple of sweaters - I find cotton fine. Then you dress or discard as the day(s) vary.

&quot;<i>I am from California.</i>&quot; - well if you want us to compare Ireland weather to what you are used to in CA - Where in CA?? San Diego? Truckee? SF? Fresno? LA? Mt Shasta? If you mean SoCal, Ireland will be cooler and wetter. If you mean Crescent City Ireland will likely be warmer and dryer.

just take layers and something waterproof. It will be most likely cool but not freezing and wet but not northwest coastal CA type <b>WET</b>.

I asked my friends who live right outside of Dublin, and the response? &quot;October.... warm clothes&quot; Maybe not very helpful..... :)
