weather in May to Germany

What would the weather be in Heidelberg in late May? And would I be out of place to where jeans and shirts to site see in? What do people where?

The weather in late May is normally quite good. It might rain and of course weather patterns can vary but the temperatures are normally in the middle twenties during the day (give and take five degrees celsius, although 30 degrees would be considered a heat wave in Germany). Jeans and T-shirt are absolutely okay (at least for people up to 30 or 35, older people tend to dress a little bit more conservative).

You should also take a light pull-over and a light jacket in case that you have bad luck and get a chilly May or for sitting outside in the evening since it gets a little bit too cold for wearing a T-shirt.

Sondra, As Hans stated, it could go either way. We were in Germany in late May in '99 and the weather was perfect. It rained on our first day in the morning only and the rest of our trip(nine days) was dry. In fact, we even saw temperatures around 80F one day in Rothenburg.

I lived in Frankfurt and remember wearing a jacket every morning in May, but I also remember perfect days and plenty of sunshine and short sleeves. You get a little more daylight there as the days are longer due to the latitude in the summer. I would take light jackets and maybe some shorts.

Sondra,

I was in Heidelburg and Colon in early June last year, and the weather was cool. It was very pleansant(it only rained on day), but I definitely wore jeans and t-shirts. I might of worn shorts a couple of days, but definitely bring a lite jacket just in case!
