WHERE in France? That does make a difference.

Will vary tremendously. Normandy and Brittany are likely to be rainy and chilly. Weather in Paris will be regular fall weather - similat to NYC or Boston - 50s or perhaps 40s at night - sunny or cloudy or rainy. Riviera will be a little warmer but not beach weather. Mountains yuo will be getting towards winter - may be crisp and cool - or cold and rain/sleet.

We were in France in 2010 until the 13 Nov. The last three weeks were spent in the Allier, and northern and southern Burgundy. The weather was cool to cold and showery at times. Looking at the news, it was a lot worse on the Atlantic side. We still did everything we wanted, but obviously it could have been better weather wise. But we knew that before we went. Of course our last day, which we spent travelling via Perouges to catch a 5pm flight from Lyon, was gorgeous- warm and sunny. So who can tell.

The weather is something over which we have no control. We travel when we can and work with what happens weather wise.

Have a great trip. We love being in France whatever the weather.

We hve been lucky and had very good weather at that time, though if you plan to go south (Provence?) the first week in November is a good time to do it.

I personally find cities better than small towns or villages in bad weather: easier to get around and a lot more indoor things to do, whether shopping or museums.

We go every year at that time and have always ben comfortable with a light coat and sweater. I have had to remove the liner from my short coat the last 3 times we were ther e in Paris. Can't say much about rain as my husband says the rain gods like to smile on me,in 30 years of twice yearly trips we have never had more than a drizzle not enough to put up an umbrella! And we travel Oct-Nov and Mar-Apr.Mostly to France and the UK!!
