Will I be able to pack my summer clothes or will it be too cool?

Summer clothes will be fine! It can be hot there in June. Some days are better than others. Take also a light raincoat with you. You never know...

What, the Var is a part of Provence, really technically(I think) the cote d'azur. It's coastline is from Hyeres to St Rafael and inland to Grasse.

Spent the last week in June in the heart of the Var, in Montauroux, just west of Grasse in 2000. It was delightful summer. Never a terribly hot day; never a long sleeves shirt day nor night.

Best wishes,

Rex
I've been there twice. Our week there in June 2000 was actually only five nights - - and it was a relatively "down" period during a very packed 16 day trip. But I have been there one other time for five days in 1999 also (exploring trip).

Montauroux itself was a charming and interesting enough little town. We were able to get a private tour of the "Christian Dior chapel" (Mr. Dior gave the money to restore it). Nearby Tourettes is a similar little hill town.

You can drive to the Gorges du Verdun or to Gourdes (different direction).

Grasse is a so-so side trip to see one of the perfume factory/museums. There is some "old town" shopping.

The Corniche de l'Esterel is a great seaside drive that finishes in Cannes - - and unlikely as it might seem, a little place called "Le Sweet" (it looks like just an ice cream/snack shop) has a complete and great sea food menu.

We went as far west as Aix en Provence for shopping, lunch and general city-strolling. It's a bit far, but not too bad.

And of course you can make it to Antibes or Nice (antiques market on Monday at Cours Saleya) or to Monte Carlo for a casino night or fancy dining, looking out over the sea.

There are other places I haven't ever been to personally: Biot is often cited, and we saw a lot of family-style fun (paddleboats, canoes, fishing, etc) on Lac de Saint Cassien, which is right at the exit from the Autoroute du Soleil for Montauroux.
Aix is in the Bouche-de-Rhone. In the Var, you have Bandol where the Best Rose wine is made. the beautiful village of Entracasteaux, and it's beautiful sumptous chateau that is a B&B. There;s cotignac, and there's Hyeres and La Garde-Freinet, Both have good dining, Lavendou, Toulon. Seillans, Fayence, all have market days. Draguinan is an area to see the lavender in abundence as is its nighbor,Alphes-De-haute=Provence that includes.Digne, " Guides for hiking ans walking in the Var are in Val d'Entraunes and Beuil Valberg. I hope this helps.
