Weather conditions for mid-October
Hello trusty Fodorites:
Heading off to Italy for my honeymoon from October 15 - 30. We are starting in Piedmonte (Alba) then to Florence then to Positano and finishing in Rome. Trying to determine how to pack. What kind of weather (temps and skies) can we expect along the way north to south? Thanks for the assistance, tony |
Tony, I think that you could reasonably expect temps in the 70's to 80's during the day and 60's likely in the evening.
We were in Rome in early October and I never once put on a jacket. Could it be cooler for you? Possibly, but if you took some long sleeve shirts and light jackets, you should be fine. Congratulations by the way. |
Thx leesimmons.
Looks like short-sleeve shirts and shorts with the option to throw on another layer. How about the skies? More sun than clouds or vice versa? take care, tony |
I'd say by all means bring umbrellas, you will likely need them from time to time
I'd bring a light weight rain coat or jacket as well, but that's me |
Take a look at worldclimate.com and weatherbase.com, two good sources for historical average temps and precepitation. FYI, October is the month with the highest rainfall in most of Italy, so bear this in mind.
The Amalfi coast will not be beach weather in mid to late October, it will generally be in the low 60s to low 70s; kind of like going to beaches around NYC area at that time. Of course, you could get the rare hot day. Beautiful in any event, and it won't be crowded. |
Thx to you all. I'll check out the historical weather site. Keeping my fingers crossed for a little indian summer??? Doubt they call it that in Europe.
