weather & activities in September

We are planning a trip to Ireland on Sept 5,2011. I know Ireland is rainy but how much in early Sept.? Are things still open in September

Sept is perfect. Everything will be open and the daylight hours are still long. Rain, it is Ireland, prepare for it everyday and you won't be upset.

You just can't predict what the weather will be like in September. Ireland is not like Southern Spai or Italy wher you can expect decent weather at certain times of the year.

Whilst it shouldn't be too cold, (it may snow) take layers that you can add or remove as necessary and a waterproof.

In 2009 we visited Ireland for 6 days in September landing in Shannon on the 16th and the weather was just perfect. We had highs around 70-72F and lows around 42-45F. Everything is still open and there are not large crowds like July and August bring. You should bring layers of clothing like Lifeman suggested and be prepared for rain anytime in Ireland; we were lucky in 09' and only had a very quick sprinkle on morning, now late September early October in 2010 was another story. ENJOY!
