Weapons on Airplanes!
 

When I read this article this morning, I was just amazed that this is still going on to this degree! Are people actually thinking that Granny's set of steak knives is OK to carry on? <BR>But Officer! I always travel with my Circular Saw!!<BR>You never know when you might need at kitchen sink pipe! LOL~<BR>__________________________<BR><BR>WASHINGT ON (March 11) - Despite reminders that potential weapons aren't allowed in airliner cabins, people are still trying to bring tens of thousands of knives, dozens of guns and thousands of box cutters on board planes every month.<BR><BR>Airport screeners have seized more than 4.8 million items - including guns, knives, a kitchen sink pipe and a circular saw - in the 13 months the federal government has been in charge of security.<BR>_____________________________________ ________

And where are you going to plug in your circular saw? I admit that the blade alone could pose a danger, but so could a (broken) bottle of wine and you can have a bottle of wine in your carry-on bags. It is not surprising that people try to carry on this stuff given that many people simply do not want to wait for their checked baggage.

Well at least they are now letting people bring nail clippers in carry-on bags. It was hard to picture some deranged person, snipping away at the crew.

I had very small scissors taken, which I had forgotton about. This is the kicker; I also forgot about the mace attached to my key ring. This was missed during 4 screenings!! Very scary!

Relax, I can't believe that much mace could possibly be attached to a keyring to make it a real danger. But then, if there were a lot of you with mace on your keyrings on the same plane......uh oh, there goes another conspiracy theory!

I realized after about my fourth trip since 9/11 that I always wear a brooch on my blazer and no one ever asked me to remove it. The pin is at least as dangerous as a sewing kit or nail file! As soon as I realized what I was doing I stopped wearing it, BTW.

A man was resently convicted to a year in prison for carrying a steak knife in his carry on, and the rest of the set was in checked baggage. The guy was so arrogant he represented himself at trial and said he meant no harm because he is a Dentist. Stupid on two counts.

<BR>a Dentist? so he does dental surgery with a steak knife? Although considering the dentists I have been to, that might not be that far fetched!

I recently (Jan, 03) flew from Tucson to Dallas and they took the nail clippers out of my dop kit because (they said) there was a small blade attached which showed up on X-ray. When I got home I realized that I'd forgotten to take a small toolkit out of my carry on which contained screw drivers . . . ?
