jsmith,
You know, if I hadn't seen that wry sense of humor of yours, I'd have thought you were serious. But I'm sure you weren't thinking that as it would mean it was your past trips to Europe that had caused the problem to begin with (which I don't believe, by the way).

I hadn't really thought that much about the balance of dollars for this year's trip. We're going to Romania. Highest priced hotel we've found is about $65, dinners are $10 for two. Don't mind adding some dollars to an economy in that state.

It's crazy what happened in Madrid last week, we have some fucking terrorits here, ETA, having killed over 800 people in 25 years . . . but this kind of masacre has left us KO. Anyway, I have tickets to Paris in two weeks and have never thought of cancelling it. I will go there and have the best of it with my wife. God only knows . . . Would I be this sure if going to London . . . makes me think !

London is doing more to discourage tourism with absurd prices than any terrorists could manage. I crossed London off the list a long time ago.

We had wanted to go to Ireland this summer but the poor stock market & weak dollar has forced us to change our minds. It is still in the works for when the dollar is a bit stronger.

Our new plans are to go to Jamaica. The dollar is better there & the prices less. Of course now we will have to worry since they are also letting Hati's former ruler be a "guest" there.

No place is 100% safe. You have to hope for the best & plan for the worst.

What a funny way to put it platzer. As if the high prices have nothing to do with their economy -- a bunch of big wigs sat around a table and asked how they could get rid of tourists. "I know", one guy said. "Let's raise our prices, that will keep them away."

Oddly enough, at the present time I'm planning my three weeks in New York followed by two weeks in London. For London I'm finding a lot of two for one offers for tourists, special discounts, and even my full price theatre tickets are a bargain compared to what I'm finding in New York. And I wish I could find an apartment half so nice in so good a location for as low a price in New York as the one I rent annually in London.

You do not have to plan for the worst. you should live your life. if your afraid stay home and lock your doors otherwise go and enjoy. many of the whiners cannot afford to travel and use nonsense to explain why there not going to travel.
