Weak coffee in England and Ireland
I have recently been told that the coffee in England and Ireland can seem weak to Americans. That seemed hard for me to believe, and I'm no Starbucks fan, but I do like a tasty cup of coffee a few times a day.

Any comments or suggestions?

Oh, Marge, just go with the flow when you're on vacation. I'm sure British coffee can be stroing or weak just like coffee in the US. If you don't like, have a beer instead.

The coffee over there is fine. Just like in the U.S., you can get a nasty cup of coffee, but you can also get good coffee. It certainly isn't any weaker or stronger than what you find in the U.S.
|
Rule of thumb: for good coffee - go to a bookshop cafe; for yuck coffee - go to a supermarket cafe.
|
I loved the coffee in London!
I drink French Roast at home and found English coffee to be quite good.
|
Speaking of Starbucks....seems like there was one every two blocks in London. I think I saw more Starbucks in London than there are in the whole state of Texas! Even at the cafe at the Tower of London, they had a "we proudly serve Starbucks Coffe" sign.

Plus there was a non-American coffee chain (I'm assuming it is British but don't know) that was all over town that also served great Latte.

When the tea taste so good why would you want coffee? I drink coffee but no tea in America because good most places in US know how to make coffee better than the tea. But when I am on the other side, I would not miss a chance to enjoy the tea done right.

Diana
Was the chain "Costa Coffee"? Italian style, but a British company as far as I know. They are everywhere and far superior to Starbucks in my opinion.
|
My suggestion would be to stop listening to whoever tells you stuff like this.

Did they tell you we all wear black, too?
|
And most places in the UK serve tea just like most places in the US - they use the dreaded tea bag because it is more convenient.
|
Not Tony-true, they use tea bags, but they at least use better tea bags. Lipton vs. Nambarie? No comparison.
|
Costa coffee make a good cup of coffee and you can also get Fairtrade coffee there.
