We are packed and ready to go and heading down to Brisbane to our daughter this afternoon. They are all at work so we are filling in time at home. We fly out to morrow afternoon. We are flying Lufthansa again as we fly into Lyon and get pretty good flight times. The first leg is with Singapore airlines to Singapore, then Lufthansa from Singapore to Frankfurt and then to Lyon. Three legs, but not too long layovers and then it is over and we are there. When we get on the plane at Singapore it is bedtime well and truly, so we do sleep.
We are over 65 and get a different flu shot, and our doctor did not get them in until Easter, so had to wait. Flu season is just starting here. Is there a vaccination for too much cheese and charcuterie? If so, we really need one!! We contacted the chambre d'hote and our first gite which starts on Saturday and had lovely replies. Well we always do. We have always found the proprietors very friendly and welcoming. But it does seem real now. P has been watching the Lyon airport site and there does not seem to be any strike action there on Thursday. Fingers crossed. Thank you everyone for your good wishes. Happy travelling to everyone who is setting out soon.. |
As to vaccine effect delay, the Australians are entering flu season at home, but the season is 6 months away in Europe. Their risk is while on the plane, not in Europe.

Lavandula we are flying Singapore Airlines as we like to arrive early morning.
AJ Peabody the professionals are advising of a bad flu season. Hopefully we will mange to avoid it. Happy Travels. |
I hope you'll both be happy - Singapore or SQ/Lufti is my preferred combination, also because of the early mornings, but I have heard some people say SQ has gone downhill in the last couple of years. Well, who would be surprised after Covid, it's been so hard on the airlines. Our last flight was Asiana to Frankfurt with a forced stopover in Seoul/Incheon (counting the time for the stopover I think it takes the flight out to 38 hours). It was OK, the flight and airline were good, the food was good, but the length of the flight eats into the holiday time significantly on a short trip. Plus you arrive in the afternoon and I think that doesn't promote getting over jetlag too well. I have flown Korean Air and their timings and conditions are similar, not sure why.
Enjoy your trip both of you, or all of you if I have missed anyone else on this thread!! Lavandula |
