We leave for Italy in less than a Week!!
Hello Everyone
I can't believe after a year of planning our trip is finally here. I think another year would help in finetuning my itinerary, packing, etc.
I couldn't leave without thanking everyone for their suggestions and opinions.
My holiday would have been a totally different one if I hadn't found this website.
My special thanks to StuDudley, Rex, Capxxx, Loveitaly,Elaine, escargot, Ira, Huitres for their very helpful info.
I hope all goes well with UH and 3 and half year old.
My Uh has been telling all and sundry that we are going to Italy and Canada and even mentioned he was looking forward to it.
I was feeling quite optimistic until the association I am dealing with for our Rome apartment let me know that the lift will probably not be working due to repairs and they have no alternative accommodation to offer, would I like my money back??
Yeh, right!!!
Anyway having read many trip reports and comments I was not surprised at this hiccup and put it into perspective.
I could not have felt that way without all of your help, so I thank you for this new feeling of calm.
May all of you take care and live well
Regards Ginder
Won't be back until mid'july from total holiday, hopefully will be on the ball to write trip report.

Have a wonderful time, ginder! What is your final itinerary... I remember reading some posts by you in the initial planning stage.
You've got a good attitude regarding the Rome apartment hiccup. We had an apartment in Lucca with our then 2 and 4 year olds... it was on the 4th floor, no lift. Yeah, it was sort of a pain, but the kids never seemed to complain. We were able to leave the stroller on the ground floor, too.
Bon voyage!

Hi Amarena
I remember your posts and suggestions too, especially the one of Sant Antonio in Tuscany. Thanks for your vote of confidence. Packing seems to be more of a nightmare at the moment, so much to carry.
Our final itinerary is:
Rome 5 nights in San Giovanni(apt closer to family that live in Rome) plus
3 nights with family in Termoli. They will take us for the weekend.
Venice 6 nights staying at Villa Vaniglia little apartment in Castello east.
Pick up hire car in Piazzale Roma and drive to Pienza to stay at Le Cretaiole. ( a toss up between sant antonio(?) forgot how to spell it)
13 nights
daytripping and one overnight in Orvieto.
Drop car off at Ciampino Airport and stay at San Giovanni apt(diff.one) for 4 nights.
then fly out.
Must go and see what else I can cram into suitcase. I am bringing a 24" suitcase, instead of my bigger one, so that's a start, but, where will it end!!!
Thanks Amarena

It looks like you have a good itinerary. Packing is always stressful for me, too, especially when you are packing for children, too. You are packing lighter than I ever have when I travel with the kids, so you are doing well!

Hello ginder, how nice to see your thread!! I remember what it is like to pack when you have not only yourself but a little one to pack for.
Your itinerary does look lovely!
I wish you and your family a beautiful time in Italy..I can only imagine how excited your relatives in Italy must be knowing you will soon be with them.
Have a fun and safe trip that I am sure will be filled with many beautiful memories for the rest of your life. Take good care ginder!

thank you Loveitaly and Dayle, it's lovely to have your kind wishes. Only 2 more sleeps until we are flying. I am at the moment trying to work out how to fit our clothes in the suitcases.
Luckily my daughter prefers to wear all pink, so no problem with matching. My husband keeps telling me he doesn't need anything but a pair of thongs(flip flops) and shorts, more room for me!!
We hope all will be well and tasty too.
Love Ginder

One more sleep and we are off!! My daughter went to bed willingly when I said tomorrow we go. As for packing, well, I have at the moment, 1 24"suitcase, 1x 75l travel pack(can't pack it well, never mind),1x duffle,2 backpacks and daughter's backpack and 1 carry on tote bag oh, and one dutyfree bag and maybe a luggage cart, plus stroller and car seat. How is that for burdensome. I tried to pack lighter. Oh well I still have a few hours left, maybe I will forget something.
Bye everyone
