We have 7 nights that can be spent on Italy after visiting Paris - ideas?

Happy to use train travel - with only 7 nights free to be back in London for a family christening (we will be flying from Rome to London on the 17th Nov).
Any advise would be appreciated for staying in Venice, Florence & Rome. Is 2 nights enough for Venice, 2 Florence and then 3 in Rome? It will be 2 adults and a 12 year old child travelling.
Are the cheaper airlines to travel from Rome to London dependable?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

re the cheaper airlines to travel from Rome to London dependable? Yes, just check where "London" airport is there are at least 4 Londons.

assume travel consumes half a day each. This leaves little time to enjoy the cities mentioned. I think three cities in 7 days is too many, but if you like to holiday that way ok

after 7 days in Paris, I'd pick a max of 2 of these italian cities - probably Venice and Rome. Trying to fit all three in will be just too much.

if by cheaper airlines you mean easyjet, yes, they are pretty reliable, but your plane back to the US won't wait if it's delayed nor will your airline compensate you if there's a problem with the connection. I suggest booking a flight from Rome to London the day before your flight home, which is one more reason to restrict your city stays in Italy to 2 rather than 3.

I agree - split you nights between Venice and Rome - IMO Florence has much less appeal for a 12 year old and Venice and Rome will probably be much more interesting as well as a less hurried itinerary.

I agree - 3 cities in 7 days is 1 too many. Venice and Rome would be a good fit. Remember you lose 1/2 a day in transit each time you move!

Very good advice above. Try to find open jaws plane tickets into Rome out of Venice or vice versa. In Italy in general, you should be in the city of your departure the night before. Transportation is not always reliable. You can't count on training into a city the day of your departure.
