we got this as a gift - what do we do with it?

some friends brought us a jar of honey with whole almonds in it from the south of spain. how is this used???? it looks wonderful but I'm not sure what the typical uses are. thx

You could eat a spoonful of it now and then as is, or put it on ice cream or bread or yogurt or fruit salad or cereal or sweet rice. If it were me, I'd probably put a little bit of it on plain yogurt and berries or cut-up fruit for breakfast.

Or perhaps you were looking for advice on some more imaginative way to use the gift? You can use the honey as a skin softener, and grind the almonds to use as a skin scrub. But normally people just eat it.

Adapt this recipe.
6 bone-in chicken parts
1/2 cup butter
1 large onion, chopped
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup slivered almonds
1/4 cup lemon juice

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Arrange chicken parts in a baking dish.
Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat, and cook onion 5 minutes, until tender. Stir in honey, almonds, and lemon juice, and continue cooking 2 minutes, or until heated through. Pour over the chicken, coating each piece.
Cover dish with aluminum foil. Bake chicken 30 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove foil, and continue baking 30 minutes, until chicken juices run clear.
It's yummy.

It's delicious in soft white cheese. The cheese that is called 'fromage blanc' in French. 'Fromage blanc entier' (full cream cheese) has my preference ...

For that unmanageable hair it can be applied to the scalp, in modest amounts of course.

Use it on baked Brie and serve with your favorite crackers.

Along those lines, it would be excellent for toast with crumbled warm goat cheese...one of my favorite lunches is toast with warm goat cheese topped with a drizzle of honey and herbs. Almonds would be a nice addition. Or ditto to cmt's suggestion of mixing it with yogurt (plain Greek style or goat's milk yogurt).

My favorite breakfast served in Mexico...

fresh fruit , topped with homemade yogurt, a bit of granola top with honey....

Another suggestion for eating it with cheese -- we do that at home (after experiencing it in Milan). Piave is my recommendation...I enjoy the honey with a little bit of a firmer cheese.
