nyc, I agree with you about what is normal for weather. While I don't regret our time in the Lakes at all, nice weather would have been "icing on a good cake".
3 or 4 years ago friends were on Lake Como at the same time in May and they experienced temps close to 90 degrees--they had a very uncomfortable stay. We were never uncomfortable, just wet and cold at times. LOL Deborah

What is wrong if info given to the police is used by other governmental organizations i.e. the tax authorities? Are 3 room B&Bs exempt from tax?
Do not presume because Italy - and especially north Italy - has to behave according to foreign stereotype.>>
the fact that [in tuscany 2 years ago] I was asked to pay half my hotel bill in cash when I offered my credit card was an aberration was it, then? and more or less frog-marched to the ATM to get out the money? all my italian friends are in despair at the effect of the black economy, except of course when they are exploiting it themselves.
