we are planning last minute trip to florence/tuscany (sept)

Hi,
we had planned a trip with our 2 adult kids to Italy (2 weeks). My daughter just started a new job, and we have now moved the trip to May. My husband thought maybe a smaller trip - just us 2 - Florence and Tuscany, ending with a long weekend in Paris.

we are thinking (and are flexible) that we would go @sep18 or 19 and arrive home the 28 or 29th

Is it to late to see the wine festivals ? harvesting ? Olives?

All the festivals I have found so far - are over

Thanks!!

Maureen

Hi Maureen,

here's one link to get you started:

http://goitaly.about.com/od/festival.../sept_fest.htm

i googled autumn festivals in italy and got ones in october, november and December, so I changed the terms of my search and got a few more.

Sadly, September seems to be before the major festival season.

wine festivals BTW tend to be after they have made it ie November time, not before.

hope you find something you like.

Just to remember that the world cycling championship 2013 will be run on various itineraries, mainly starting from Montecatini and ending in Florence from Saturday 21st to Sunday 29th, September 2013. During the races - that is, 9am to 6pm most days, large chunks of Florence will be off limits to parking, driving, and even walking may be severely limited as for long times walkers will be not allowed to cross the itineraries. I suggest you study carefully this event before reserving, as this is going to affect severely life in Florence.

Actually not. The big Chianti festival in Greve is early September. The Bravi delle Botti in Montepulciano (rolling of the barrels) is usually last weekend in August.

Pienza's cheese festival is in September, but early I think. There are some honey festivals in some towns also in Sept.

Impruneta, Panzano, Chiusi and Castelnuovo Berardenga all have grape/wine festivals in Sept.
