We are looking for a 3 Star Hotel near Rome Termini Train station

There has been a recommendation on this forum, a few months ago, of Hotel Aberdeen: http://www.romeby.com/aberdeen/index.html

You could also look at the Boscolo Exedra or the Hotel Muscagni as both are near Termini and the Piazza Republicca.

Hotel Universo is a good selection.
It is within walking distance of Termini, is on a relatively quiet street, has several nice restaurants nearby, has internet cafe directly across the street, has a nice buffet breakfast,has luggage storage available if you checkout early /arrive early etc.

I've stayed here www.hotelkennedy.net 4x times.
It's a nice 3* a stone's-throw away from the station.

We did not like the Aberdeen. It has the feel of 2 * rather than 3 * which it has. Our room was very noisy--maybe from the marble floors but noise from Via Nazionale was an issue. The bathroom was poorly lit and twins beds were very narrow--similar to camp cots. Breakfast room had a gloomy atmosphere. We could hear the people next door using the toilet--thin, thin walls.

Sorry, I mis-read your message header about wanting THREE-star hotels, so please disregard my response.

We were very pleased with Gea di Vulcano and Hotel Cortina. Both are on Via Nazionale about 3 - 4 blocks from Termini but you hear no noise at all. Rooms and bathrooms were big, fresh and clean. Staff were extremely helpful at both. We booked on Venere.com

We stayed at the Hotel Canada about five blocks from Termini. At that time it was affiliated with Best Western. The hotel is lovely, the internet accurately depicts the rooms, and breakfast was very good. We were the only Americans there, for some reason; the hotel was full of Greeks and Finns :) Our room with two doubles was larger than we expected, the bath was large and well-appointed, and there was a small foyer area with a sofa and desk. The window and balcony opened up to a dark interior courtyard that wasn't too appealing, but then we were there in November and it was rainy. The bar is very nice, with inexpensive drinks and a frescoed ceiling.

I believe we paid about $275 per night for an upgraded room. It has pretty good reviews on Trip Advisor.

I would not agree with Hausmann's description of Hotel Aberdeen. We have stayed there twice and experienced none of the "problems" reported by Hausmann. The breakfast room is an interior room without windows so it is a little gloomy but breakfast was better than average. Also, most unusal, they had an expresso machine and would make capaccinos to order. A nice plus. The staff was extremely helpful in making arrangements with local sightseeing sites. However, it is high on the Rick Steves list and can be diffiuclt to obtain reservations in the summer.

Another 3 star hotel we have used is Hotel Contilia about two blocks south of the train station. Big advantage to the Contilia is the laundrymat across the street. We used the Contilia when passing through Rome for one or two days and need to wash clothes.
