I have always used AutoEurope, Judy. As for your last day, I'm not a fan of taking a train from somewhere the day of my flight, and there are no direct trains from Caen or Bayeux to CDG that I'm aware of, so I'd probably go back to Paris for the final night.

Grandmere, merci! Yes, my DH wants to rest in Paris first. We will train to Caen and get a rental there. I will bring layers...and a zip out lining jacket (hopefully it will be warm).

DO NOT drive in Paris. My husband is intrepid and he HATED driving in Paris. They are crazy and suicidal there. We saw a lady in a tiny smart car shaking her fist and taking on a bus.
You eill love the Bayeux Tapestry. Take enough time to really see it. And Mont. St. Michel is unbelievable. You must go there. We spent the night on the Mont which was really nice because it's very deserted at night. We stayed at La Mere Poulard. Nice enough. The omelettes are famous but hugely expensive and sort of underdone by our standards (although the bacon and potatoes in cream side dish was worth the $34 for the omelette). If you have a chance in Normandy go to Alencon if you like lace. Their lace museum- and seeing how they make Alencon lace was a highpoint for me. And the Normandy Beaches and cemetery are unbelievable. We were there in 2009 year the day before the big 65th anniversary celebrations. It was so moving to talk to some of the old veterans. They were so proud. |

St. Cirq, that is exactly what I am doing for my trip in June. That way I get to spend an extra night in Paris! |
I'll be staying at Hotel d'argouges for 2 nights and touring with Battlebus in late April. If there are specifics anyone would like me to look for while I'm there I would be happy to oblige!

We are going in early April rampchic. My DH wanted late April, but I was impatient to go! :-) St Cirq, yes that is what we will do. My DH gets very anxious about being late for the plane.

Judyrem,
You will love Normandy! May I suggest a Brasserie? My husband and I love le Pommier, they have the best apple tart that I ever had and also the restaurant at Lion d'Or (sp) Hotel is excellent. imho, driving in and out of Paris is pretty easy, as long as you have a good GPS system. |
Thanks cafegoddess for the info. Hmmmmm apple tart :-)

Hi Judy, do you have any specific restaurants in Paris that you will be going to? Would love to hear your ideas. I will also be staying in the 6th.
