We are flying into Madrid August 10 & flying home August 26 Barcelona
Having 16 Days to Tour the country arriving August 10 Madrid and flying home from Barcelona August 26. What would you suggest our itinerary be? We can use any form of transportation, car, plane, train or etc.. We were thinking, but unsure how to proceed: Madrid, Seville, San Sebastian and Barcelona. maybe adding Granada and Cordoba but we do love the beaches
Please advise
Thank you

5 days in Madrid, 5 in San Sebastian and 5 in Barcelona. August is painfully hot all over Spain with the exception of the North coast. If it were me I would spend all of my time on the North coast but I've been there many times.

Thank you. We purchased 2 books today. Still looking for advice. We would like to visit Seville. How long should we spend there and is it best to go while staying in Madrid for 4 days ? After 4 days in Madrid should we fly to San Sebastián and then drive to Barcelona. What other areas should we visit? Thanks on sdvance

Madrid, Sevilla, San Sebastián and Barcelona would make up four fantastic and very different cities, giving you an idea of the immense variety of Spain. These four cities would be on the top of my Spanish cities list after 25 years of intensive travelling in the country.
Here are some links:
Madrid (the great Veranos de la Villa festival goes on when you're in town. World class artists on spectacular outdoor scenes in the center of town every night): http://www.esmadrid.com/en/portal.do
Sevilla, the undisputed queen of the cities in the South: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnV7IkZU-OY
San Sebastián, the culinary capital of Spain if not all of Europe, and European capital of culture 2016: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2zTb7Eg9Lk

And Barcelona could easily beat them all. Here a little clip from the local feel Poble Sec district: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGb2pcWnJaI

You can take a train to Seville for a couple of days, check RENFE
Fly Vueling from Seville to Bilbao....perhaps stay a day or so
Bus or drive to SS...relax on the beach for several days
Fly Vueling to Barcelona for several days...more beach time.
Sorry, not familiar with driving from SS to Barcelona .

We booked hotel in madrid for 4 days. I think the the train would be the quickest way to sevilla but Unsure of hotel and how many days to stay before moving on to San Sebastián (should we fly to Ss)? Then we were thinking of stopping inbiarritz but how many days before our next stop?
Last stop Barcelona. We fly home on the 26th
Please advise and all responses are greatly appreciated

I wouldn't bother with Biarritz, get the maximum time in plain fantastic San Sebastián. http://travel.nytimes.com/2011/08/07...pain.html?_r=0

Fly Vueling from San Sebastián (two daily departure) or Bilbao (1h 20 min away by direct bus and several daily departures) to Barcelona in 1 hour for 35-55€.
